چکیده

The geospatial domain is influenced by the Web developments; consequently, an increasing number of geospatial web services become available through Internet. A rich description of geospatial web services is required to resolve semantic heterogeneity and achieve semantic interoperability of geospatial web services. However, existing geospatial web services descriptions and semantic mapping approaches employed to reconcile them are not always rich enough, especially with respect to semantics of spatiotemporal features. This article proposes a new semantic mapping model, the G-MAP, which is based on a semantically augmented description of geospatial web services. G-MAP introduces the idea of semantic mappings between services that depends on context, and an augmented mapping technique based on dependencies between features of concepts describing geo-services. An implementation scenario demonstrates the validity of our approach.

Toward an Architecture for Enhancing Semantic Interoperability Based on Enrichment of Geospatial Data Semantics

Semantic interoperability is needed to support meaningful data exchanges in distributed environments such as ad hoc networks of geospatial databases and geospatial web services. Even with the recent increasing popularity of ontologies to capture semantics of geospatial resources, semantics of geospatial data are often implicit or too weak to support meaningful exchanges. In this paper, we argue...

Framework of semantic interoperability using geospatial ontologies

Semantics of geospatial information is necessary to ensure its interoperability and correct usage. Geospatial ontologies enable encoding such knowledge and enable reasoning mechanisms to estimate interoperability. The framework of interoperability for geospatial information using ontologies, presented in this paper, supports (i) building of ontologies, (ii) semi-automated, ontology-based mappin...

SWING – A Semantic Web Services Framework for the Geospatial Domain

The ability to represent geospatial semantics is of great importance when building geospatial applications for the Web. Semantic Web Service technology provides solutions for intelligent service annotation, discovery, composition and invocation in distributed environments. Deploying this technology into geospatial web applications has the potential to enhance discovery, retrieval and integratio...

Semantic Augmentation of Geospatial Concepts: the Multi-view Augmented Concept to Improve Semantic Interoperability between Multiples Geospatial Databases

Semantic interoperability is a key issue for the meaningful sharing of geospatial data between multiples geospatial databases. It requires the establishment of semantic mappings between concepts databases’ ontologies. Semantic mappings can be discovered only when semantics is explicit. However, existing concepts’ definitions are not always sufficient to represent the semantic richness of geospa...

Semantic Provenance Registration and Discovery using Geospatial Catalogue Service

A geospatial catalogue service allows geospatial users to discover appropriate geospatial data and services in a Web-based distributed environment. Metadata for geospatial data and services is organized structurally in catalogue services. Provenance for geospatial data products, as a kind of metadata describing the derivation history of data products, can be managed in a same way as other kinds...
